If you are on regular medication, you may be able to get a prescription without seeing the doctor.
You will need to come in for a review of your medication from time to time to make sure that you are on the best treatment for your condition.
You can order your medication:
- Online, once you have been granted access after applying for this service with a receptionist, by logging in to SystmOnline
- By phoning the surgery and selecting option 3 between 10.00am to 12.00pm (noon) and speaking to the Prescription Clerk
- Via your pharmacy for all patients 75 and over but please enquire with them if they offer this to any other ages
- In person by completing a form which can be found at the reception desk, you do not have to speak to the receptionist to do this
Wherever possible use the computer printed forms which come with your prescriptions.
Please allow at least 2 working days for your prescription to be completed via online services and phone requests. Paper requests can take up to 72 hours for processing.
Please do not call the surgery to see if your prescription is ready to be collected form the pharmacy as this is taking up valuable time when we could be helping patients who needs medical attention.
If you are seen at the hospital and we are required to prescribe you medication please be advised we have up to 2 week to process this request once we have received a letter from them. They are to provide you medication once you have been seen to cover this time period.
You can request your medication up to 2 weeks in advance, controlled drugs will still only be dispensed on their due date. If you are going on holiday in the England you request can be processed as normal and you can ask for a barcode from the clerk and this can be taken to any pharmacy for dispensing.
If you are travelling abroad, please advise the clerk of your dates of travel and this will be passed to a GP who will authorise any additional medication to cover you.
